Indole-3-carbinol (I-3-C) is an anti-cancer phytonutrient found in cruciferous vegetables. Research has shown that I3C helps to breakdown cancer-causing estrogens to non-toxic forms. I3C maintains a healthy cervix, protects against HPV cervical lesions and controls abnormal cell growth found in those with uterine fibroids and endometriosis. Calcium D-glucarate is a powerful detoxifier of excess estrogens from the liver.

Green Tea Extract contains polyphenols, catechins and flavonoids shown to be protective against estrogen related cancers.

Curcumin is the yellow pigment of turmericthe chief ingredient in curry. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory agent and it works to inhibit all steps of cancer formation: initiation, promotion and progression. Curcumin also protects against inflammatory calcium loss from our bones.

DIM helps to break down cancer-causing estrogens to non-toxic forms. DIM is one of the products created by the breakdown of Indole-3-cardinol. ESTROSMARTTM has always provided DIM but now we have added an additional 50mg.

Rosemary Extract, a potent antioxidant, protects cells from cancer-causing agents, inhibits the growth of cancer cells and helps to detoxify carcinogenic estrogens.

Zinc is a critical nutrient in immunity, cellular repair, and hormone regulation. Zinc helps to increase progesterone and decrease estrogen. PMS sufferers are more likely to have low zinc status. Zinc is also needed for healthy muscle contractibility and menstrual regulation.

Chastetree Berry (Vitex) is a very well-researched herb. It has a strong reputation in the traditional treatment of menstrual abnormalities, PMS, menopausal complaints, and infertility. In 1997 a team of German researchers found in a double-blind, placebo-controlled study that Vitex was more effective in the treatment of PMS complaints (breast tenderness, edema, tension headaches, constipation, depression, skin problems) than Vitamin B 6 which is commonly used for PMS. Another study found that ninety percent of the 1,542 female participants had relief from the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Further double-blind research performed in Germany confirmed that Vitex can lower prolactin levels in women. Another study showed that hormonal acne was reduced using vitex.

Sulforaphane, from broccoli sprout extract, has been shown to stimulate the body's production of detoxification enzymes that eliminate xenoestrogens. Sulforaphane is also a powerful antioxidant.

Inflammation in Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients is characterized by increased cytokines and activated microglia. Epidemiological studies suggest reduced AD risk associates with long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Whereas chronic ibuprofen suppressed inflammation and plaque-related pathology in an Alzheimer transgenic APPSw mouse model (Tg2576), excessive use of NSAIDs targeting cyclooxygenase I can cause gastrointestinal, liver, and renal toxicity. One alternative NSAID is curcumin, derived from the curry spice turmeric. Curcumin has an extensive history as a food additive and herbal medicine in India and is also a potent polyphenolic antioxidant. To evaluate whether it could affect Alzheimer-like pathology in the APPSw mice, we tested a low (160 ppm) and a high dose of dietary curcumin (5000 ppm) on inflammation, oxidative damage, and plaque pathology. Low and high doses of curcumin significantly lowered oxidized proteins and interleukin-1, a proinflammatory cytokine elevated in the brains of these mice. With low-dose but not high-dose curcumin treatment, the astrocytic marker GFAP was reduced, and insoluble-amyloid (A), soluble A, and plaque burden were significantly decreased by 43-50%. However, levels of amyloid precursor (APP) in the membrane fraction were not reduced. Microgliosis was also suppressed in neuronal layers but not adjacent to plaques. In view of its efficacy and apparent low toxicity, this Indian spice component shows promise for the prevention of Alzheimer's disease
