AOR De Cholest - 180 caps
AOR DE CHOLEST helps lower plasma LDL and total cholesterol and maintain healthy cholesterol levels. AOR DE CHOLEST also includes ingredients used in Herbal Medicine to increase bile flow and relieve digestive disturbances.
AOR De Cholest has a new formula now!
- De Cholest now
includes 740mg of free plant sterols per daily dose (6 capsules). Plant sterols
have been clinically demonstrated to lower total and LDL cholesterol
levels.
- Black Tea extract
has been replaced with a combination of green and black tea extracts from
Camellia sinensis. The product now provides 750 mg of tea extract per
daily dose, providing the benefits of both green tea polyphenols and theaflavins
from black tea.
- De Cholest still
provides 800mg of berberine per daily dose.
- The quantity of
Artichoke Leaf has been reduced slightly from 1280mg to 1000mg per daily
dose.
- Ferulic acid and
Comminophora mukul (guggulsterones) have been removed from the product,
and have been replaced with other, highly effective ingredients. Also, the
removal of these ingredients means that the De Cholest is no longer
contraindicated with other medications, like the blood pressure drugs diltiazem
and propranolol or the cancer drug cyclophosphamide.
- The UPC
(624917041873) has not changed.
- The capsule count
(180) has not changed.
Cholesterol
It
is common knowledge that high cholesterol levels can contribute to
heart disease, the number one killer in North America. However, while
certain kinds of cholesterol can have negative effects on heart health,
other kinds can be beneficial. Cholesterol is required by the body for
the maintenance of cell membranes, the production of bile to digest
fats, and the metabolism of fat soluble vitamins. However, excessive
amounts of certain types of cholesterol have been linked to the
formation of plaque in the arteries and heart disease. Cholesterol is
not water-soluble and requires a transport molecule to move throughout
the body. There are two main types of cholesterols - High density
lipoprotein (HDL) and Low density lipoprotein (LDL). Triglycerides are
also related to cholesterol levels. Maintaining a healthy balance of
HDL, LDL and triglycerides is critical for maintaining a healthy heart
and avoiding cardiovascular disease.
High density lipoprotein
HDL transports
cholesterol from the body tissues to the liver and also removes
cholesterol from the arteries. This is "good" cholesterol, and higher
levels of HDL cholesterol can be protective against heart disease.
Low density lipoprotein
LDL
transports cholesterol from the liver to the tissues. LDL cholesterol
is "bad" cholesterol and contributes to the formation of arterial
plaque. High levels of LDL or a high LDL to HDL ratio is a major risk
factor for cardiovascular disease. LDL can also be oxidized in a process
called lipid peroxidation, which is very dangerous. Oxidized LDL
damages blood vessels and has been identified as contributing to the
development of atherosclerosis.
Triglycerides
Triglycerides
are fatty acid compounds that are often packaged with cholesterol.
Because triglycerides are often associated with low HDL and high LDL
cholesterol levels, high triglyceride levels are not desirable.
A Natural Solution
AOR's
De Cholest includes a synergistic combination of natural ingredients
that work together to protect blood vessels and assist in the prevention
of plaque build-up in the arteries. The combination of plant extracts
and compounds in De Cholest have been scientifically demonstrated to be
beneficial in the battle against cholesterol. These ingredients work
through complimentary mechanisms to balance cholesterol levels; lowering
the levels of "bad" (LDL) cholesterol while increasing the levels of
"good" (HDL) cholesterol. This formula offers a natural solution for the
common problem of unhealthy cholesterol levels, helping to balance
blood lipid levels and support heart health.
Berberine
Berberine
is a natural plant alkaloid that is known for its anti-biotic
properties. Recent research suggests that berberine also has impressive
cholesterol lowering activity. In one trial, diabetics suffering from
high cholesterol levels experienced an 18% drop in total cholesterol and
a 21% decrease in LDL cholesterol levels following supplementation with
1g of berberine per day for 3 months. Berberine's ability to lower
cholesterol is likely due to the plant's ability to up-regulate LDL
receptors, which causes more LDL cholesterol to be taken up by cells,
removing it from the blood. In animal studies berberine has proved
effective at lowering triglyceride levels and increasing HDL cholesterol
levels. Berberine also has glucose modulating, anti-hypertensive and
antioxidant effects.
Artichoke Leaf
Artichoke
leaf extract can also significantly lower cholesterol levels, with one
clinical trial showing reductions in total cholesterol levels by as much
as 18.5% and LDL cholesterol levels by 22.9% after just 6 weeks.
Artichoke leaf enhances bile production by the liver and flow of bile
from the gallbladder, since bile is very high in cholesterol this helps
to eliminate cholesterol from the body.
Green & Black Tea Extracts
Tea leaves (Camellia sinensis) contain a number of different
polyphenols and antioxidants. Theaflavin is a polyphenol found in black
tea leaved. Green tea enriched with theaflavin from black tea has been
demonstrated to lower total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels by
11% and 16% respectively in patients with mild to moderate
hypercholesterolemia. Theaflavin is also an antioxidant, and acts to
prevent LDL oxidation. Higher consumption of green tea has also been
associated with healthier cholesterol levels in humans. De Cholest
contains a combination of green and black tea extracts, providing the
benefits of green tea polyphenols along with theaflavin from black tea.
Plant Sterols
Plant sterols are natural compounds found in many foods we eat,
including vegetables, vegetable oils, grains, fruits and nuts. Plant
sterols are similar in structure to cholesterol, but they do not
increase cholesterol levels in humans. How plant sterols work is that
they compete with cholesterol for absorption from our intestines into
the blood stream. This competition for absorption means that less food
cholesterol gets absorbed into the blood, which has an overall
cholesterol lowering effect in the body. Clinical studies in humans have
shown that consuming plant sterols can lower LDL cholesterol by up to
15 % after three weeks when combined with a healthy diet. Unfortunately,
a typical diet provides only 0.2 mg of plant sterols per day, far less
from the amount needed to cut cholesterol levels. As such, supplements
containing plant sterols are the best way to reap the benefits of these
natural compounds.
