Aztec Chia is an ancient high-nutrient whole food that is native to
Mexico. From the genus Salvia in the mint family and nutty in flavor,
its name means oily, as it is rich in short chain Omega-3 fatty acids.
The higher elevations and cooler growing conditions produce optimal
crops with higher ALA content. Aztec Chias well-earned
reputation comes from its dense nutritional profile, which includes an
average of 20% protein, 34% oil and 25% both soluble and insoluble
dietary fiber.
Nutritional compounds including calcium, phosphorous,
magnesium, manganese, copper, iron, molybdenum, niacin and zinc are
plentiful in Aztec Chia.
Black Chia The Complete Food
Aztec Chia contains primarily black seeds, which are known to
be higher in anti-oxidants. Because of its ample short chain Omega-3
content, the increased anti-oxidants protect these oils from going
rancid. It is therefore safe to store Aztec Chia for years without
degradation.
The body uses its enzymatic reserves to convert Chias ALA
(Alpha-linolenic acid) content to EPA and DPA, as part of its biological
priorities. Chia also provides a full spectrum of other healthy fatty
acids in a complete nutritional package.
