If you are suffering from a vaginal infection or are affected by infections on a regular basis don't worry, you're not alone. It is estimated that 60% of women in Canada are suffering from either a fungal (yeast) or bacterial infection at any given time.

GynOphilus re-populates the affected area with the correct type and quantity of friendly bacteria to dramatically reduce symptoms and eliminate recurrent vaginal infections.

Treatment and Prevention

Conventional treatments include antifungal creams, tablets and antibiotics. In Canada alone, women buy approximately 3.6 million bottles and boxes of these treatments every year. While these more common treatments can offer relief, they are only short-term solutions that cannot break the cycle of recurrence.

Recurrence of vaginal infections is the real problem. Restoring and maintaining the balance of vaginal flora is the only definitive way to stop recurrence once and for all.

GynOphilus re-populates the affected area with the correct type and quantity of friendly bacteria to dramatically reduce symptoms and eliminate recurrent vaginal infections.

Experts in The Field of Probiotic Research

Our pharmaceutical laboratory was founded in 1956 and specializes in probiotic research, design and production. Our scientists have been expanding their studies for decades, developing culturing techniques and proving the therapeutic value of a unique strain Lactobacillus casei rhamnosus referred to as Lactobacillus Döderlein Lcr35®.

Our technique involves establishing a careful balance between pressure and temperature during the freeze-dry process, to maintain the integrity of the bacteria keeping them viable, with all their beneficial properties.

A Tribiotic Formula

GynOphilus is formulated as a tribiotic, which guarantees viability of the bacteria and ensures potency.

Three Key Components:

Prebiotic: a culture medium that nourishes the Lcr35 probiotic and helps it to grow and thrive.

Probiotic: Lcr 35, a single strain probiotic, has clinically proven beneficial effects for fighting infections.

Eubiotic: powerful metabolites that are produced by the bacteria during its growth phase, which defend Lcr35 and contribute to its effectiveness.

Only GynOphilus features this tribiotic composition, which is never centrifuged or diluted to ensure potency and effectiveness.

What Makes GynOphilus Special?

GynOphilus contains a specific strain of Lactobacillus casei rhamnosus referred to as Lactobacillus Döderlein Lcr35. This is the only strain that has been:

  • Studied for decades
  • Used across the world
  • Backed by 35 scientific studies

How GynOphilus Helps

It helps in the treatment, prevention and recurrence of fungal (yeast) and bacterial infections of the vaginal tract, including treating these symptoms: excessive discharge, burning or stinging sensation, and vaginal dryness. Restores and maintains healthy vaginal flora following antibiotic or antifungal treatment. Contributes to maintaining a natural and beneficial vaginal flora.

Use GynOphilus to treat and prevent recurrence of vaginal infections and join thousands of women worldwide who have overcome this problem.

Recommended Dose

For adult women only. Insert 1 ovule vaginally twice daily, in the morning and at bedtime. Moisten ovule with a small amount of water to facilitate insertion. Consult a healthcare practitioner for use beyond 7 days. Consult a healthcare practitioner if symptoms persist or worsen.

Lifestyle Factors

Imbalances in vaginal flora are what lead to vaginal infections. There are several factors that can lead to imbalances including the use of antibiotics, use of tampons, heavy periods, hormonal changes, pregnancy, menopause, STDs and repeated use of antifungal agents. There are also lifestyle factors that you should consider. Here are some helpful tips:

Eat well:

Certain foods such as probiotic yoghurt contribute to the maintenance of healthy bacterial levels in your body. Garlic and green foods can boost immune system function and help ward off infection.

Stay dry:

Keeping the vaginal area dry, especially after bathing greatly reduces the risk of infection. Refrain from wearing tight fitting clothes or wet swimwear for extended periods of time, as they can welcome infection.

Practice safe sex:

Although yeast infections are less common in men, they may be a carrier of bacteria. Condoms are a great way to protect oneself from these types of foreign bacteria. As well, spermicidal foam or cream can clog tissue, preventing healthy bacteria from surviving. They should be avoided when possible.

Choose water-based lubricants:

Petroleum-based lubricants can also clog tissue, preventing friendly bacteria from surviving.

Consider your hygiene practices:

Bath products with synthetic fragrances can cause irritation and worsen even a minor infection. Excessive douching can also lead to tissue damage and vaginal flora imbalances.

Go organic:

Most synthetic fabrics don't breathe very well and can create a breeding ground for yeast and bacteria. Be sure to use cotton panties. Organic cotton is best. Keep artificial dyes away from sensitive skin and wear white cotton whenever possible.

Prevalence of Vaginal Infections

It is important to understand the term "prevalence". Prevalence means "in a particular area at a particular time". It is approximated that the prevalence of BOTH yeast infections (mycosis) and bacterial infections (vaginosis) is 30% in Canadian women at any given time. This means that at any given time, 60% of women are dealing with either mycosis or vaginosis.

It's an unfortunate fact that many women don't seek professional help for vaginal infections due to lack of time or feelings of embarrassment. Those who self-diagnose, automatically assume they have a yeast (mycosis) infection and resort to the wrong treatment.

Recurrence of vaginal infections is the real problem. Research shows us that 5 to 10% of women have fungal infections up to 8 times per year and that 30 to 50% of women have recurrence of bacterial infections within 6 months. These numbers clearly show that recurrence is the real problem. Having one infection may be inconvenient, but having them year-round is a real problem. This is why Laboratoires Lyocentre are committed to providing educational tools as well as products to help prevent recurrence as well as treat the infection itself.

In the 1950's, a strain of Lactobacillus casei rhamnosus was isolated by professors GASSER and CHEYMOL in France. This strain had a strong ability to implant and was thought to have especially interesting therapeutic potential. The strain was retained by Laboratoires Lyocentre in France, to later become commercially available as the Lcr35® strain found in GynOphilus.

Laboratoires Lyocentre is a pharmaceutical laboratory founded in 1956, specializing in the design and production of probiotics. Our scientists have been expanding their expertise over several decades. In the 1950's, when the concept of probiotics was relatively unknown, our scientists developed culturing techniques for the Lcr35 strain and demonstrated its therapeutic usefulness in the gastro-enterological and gynaecological fields.

As early as 1956, Laboratoires Lyocentre began researching and commercializing the Lcr35 strain, producing a total of 35 scientific experiments and research papers. Over the next 50 years they continued to evolve their studies, which included successful human clinical trials.
